Background

Once again, Beatles fans and record buyers in America were treated to a soundtrack album with only the seven Beatles songs from the movie Help! along with soundtrack music by George Martin and Orchestra. Unlike A Hard Day's Night where United Artists and EMI had an agreement, Capitol records released this soundtrack album complete with "special movie souvenir package" as was dubbed by Capitol. All this did was to jack the price of the album up a couple of dollars. It was reported that John Lennon was disgusted with this souvenir package when told of the album. Meanwhile the rest of the world recieved the Help! album complete with songs from the movie plus seven additional songs recorded for the album only.

Nonetheless, both the movie and the soundtrack did very well in the U.S. with the soundtrack album reaching the top spot on all three album charts.
