Background:
Jumping on the Beatlemania bandwagon, MGM filled this album with four songs the Beatles recorded with Tony Sheridan in 1961, two songs from a Tony Sheridan German single, and the remainder with tracks by the Titans, an MGM in-house band. The album's cover made an obvious attempt to capitalize on the success of the Beatles, but the LP sold only moderately with Billboard and Cash Box slipping it into their top 100.
The release date was just before the arrival of the Beatles in the United States. Within about a year, MGM removed the words "and others" from the bottom of the front cover. These words had seemed to imply that there were other Beatles-backed songs on the album, when in fact, there were not.
Although the front of the album sleeve shows the title as The Beatles with Tony Sheridan and Guests, the spline, record label, and back of the cover read "The Beatles with Tony Sheridan and Their Guests".
