Yellow Submarine b/w

Eleanor Rigby

Background

This Beatles single was pulled from the album Revolver. Again, another departure for the Beatles in terms of their music. A departure that served to fuel claims about the groups inventiveness and geniusness.

Chart-wise, Yellow Submarine was delegated as the A-side, and went to number one on both Cash Box and Record World. Billboard, however, didn't place it on the top of their charts, and it ended up at number two, thus making it the second Beatles single of 1966 not to top the charts. The B-side Eleanor Rigby was charted by Billboard at number eleven, Cash Box at number twelve, and Record World at number number sixteen.
