Yesterday b/w Act Naturally

Background

For this Beatles single, Capitol records pulled from the British Help! soundtrack two songs which were omitted from the American Help! album. Paul McCartney's ballad Yesterday mastered the airwaves and cash register sales, and went on to become one of The Beatles all time biggest hits. It would also go on to be one of the most recorded songs in music history.

Interesting note is that Parlophone records in England didn't consider Yesterday single material so it wasn't released there. In 1976 however, Parlophone did release Yesterday as a single, and it went onto make the top ten in England.

The B-side Act Naturally was charted by both Billboard and Cash Box, with Billboard charting it as high as 47, while Cash Box placed it as high as number 28
