I'll Get You

Background

With the first two Beatles singles having gone nowhere, Vee Jay records passed on this next Beatles single, and it eventually ended up on the Swan label.

The song was written by Paul McCartney in June, 1963 while the Beatles were on tour. Originally, the song was going to be an answer type song with Paul singing She Loves You, with John and George answering Yeah, Yeah,Yeah, but John persuaded Paul to drop this idea.

Although taking nearly four months to catch on, this Beatles single would go on to become one of the group's all-time biggest sellers, and is reflected on the three major charts with The Beatles earning their first number one single in America.
