Background

This movie medley single surfaced about a year after an imitation Beatles group called Stars On topped the American charts for one week with their medley of Beatles songs in 1981 (their follow-up, however, fizzled). Captiol, nonetheless decided to splice segments of seven Beatles movie songs from their five motion pictures .

Despite the fact that the songs were amateurishly edited, the changes from one song to the next were rather abrupt, and that some of the songs were electronically sped up, this single did pretty well on the charts, nearly cracking the top ten on both Billboard and Cash Box. Of note here is the B-side I'm Happy Just To Dance With You. Originally, the single was to have had a different B-side titled Fab Four on Film, which was a recorded interview of The Beatles made during shooting for A Hard Day's Night. This first single had it's own catalog number (Capitol B-5100), and was to have been released on March 15, 1982. However, due to reported legal entanglements, the first single was shelved in place of the single with I'm Happy Just To Dance With You as the B-side, and it's release was held up a week.
