Paperback Writer b/w Rain

Background

The Beatles second single for 1966 shows just how far the Beatles had come since 1962. Paperback Writer with it's catchy guitar licks and Paul's bass more prevelant than on other Beatles songs. And let's not forget the B-side Rain, with it's use of backward tape loops.

On the charts, Paperback Writer was a unanimous number one on all three charts, with the B-side Rain being charted by both Billboard and Cash Box with Billboard placing it as high as number twenty three, while Cash Box placed it as high as number thirty one.
