Four By The Beatles (EP)

Background

Like Vee Jay, Capitol Records decided to test the EP format on American record buyers, so they combined the two singles from Canada which were released here in December 1963 and February 1964 (Roll Over Beethoven b/w Please Mr. Postman and All My Loving b/w This Boy). Chart-wise, this Beatles EP did somewhat better than the Vee Jay EP with Billboard and Cashbox placing it into their top 100. Whether American record buyers weren't interested in the EP format, or whether they already had the two Capitol of Canada singles, it wouldn't be until 1965 that Capitol records would try releasing another EP in America.
