Boys b/w Kansas City

Background

During the fall of 1965, Capitol records reissued the four Vee Jay singles from 1964 along with two new song couplings via their Starline "oldies" label. Besides this single, there was one other "new" single (Misery b/w Roll Over Beethoven). Capitol had hoped to make the single Boys b/w Kansas City a full fledged Beatles release. Brian Epstein and The Beatles, however, objected to releasing "old" material as "new" product.

Of the six Capitol Starline singles reissued, this single was the only one that managed to catch on for a few weeks, being played in various radio markets in the U.S., which allowed it to slip onto the charts. Cash Box only charted the B side Kansas City, ranking it just behind the A-side on their chart at number seventy-five.
