The Saints

(When The Saints Go Marching In)

Background

MGM Records acquired four of the eight Tony Sheridan songs from 1961 with The Beatles as his back-up band. As such, with Beatlemania starting to gain steam, MGM records decided to release these two songs which were released by Polydor records in April, 1962. This time however, the single would be recredited as "The Beatles Featuring Tony Sheridan" instead of Tony Sheridan and The Beat Brothers.

The single was rushed released with the Beatles name boldly displayed on the cover. Fans were caught off guard by this single, and bought enough copies of the single to place it onto the three American record charts. That is, until record buyers caught on to the fact that Tony Sheridan's voice is the singer on both songs.
