The Saints
(Note: Single is credited to Tony Sheridan
and the Beat Brothers a.k.a The Beatles)

Background

This was officially the first Beatles single released in the United States. In May, 1961, while the Beatles were back in Germany for a second time, they played as a backing band to fellow Liverpudlian singer Tony Sheridan at the Top Ten Club in Hamburg Germany. It was here that a record producer named Bert Kaempfert decided to record a few songs using Sheridan and The Beatles for the Polydor label in Germany.

The single was released in Germany in June 1961, selling 100,000 copies and making it onto the top five there. Because the German audiences could not translate the word Beatles into German, the single was credited as Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers (aka the Beatles). When the single was released in America (on Decca Records), this credit remained on the single until 1964, when Beatlemania broke out. Then, the single was correctly credited as The Beatles with Tony Sheridan.

As for this single, it failed to chart on Billboard, Cash Box, and Record World.
